Web was my passion. AI is changing how we build it.
I'm Jothi Sankar Kanagavel. I've been building for the web since 2013, across frontend architecture, product engineering, design systems, and developer training. Today I'm a Lead Engineer at Ford, helping shape the web platform behind ford.com while continuing to explore what the browser can do.
Selected work
Platform architecture, design systems, long-lived product foundations, and practical experiments with the modern web.
Ford web platform
Part of the web platform team behind ford.com, where I manage the Nx monorepo that supports its Next.js applications and shared packages. I also own design-system development and broader frontend architecture responsibilities across the platform.
Planned, owned, and delivered the Tailwind CSS v3-to-v4 migration across the entire monorepo—including its applications and packages.
Read the case studyPickYourTrail
Built and evolved customer-facing travel experiences, helping the frontend grow with the product, organization, and markets it serves.
Read the case studyFrontend platform & design system
Created shared frontend foundations that improve consistency, reuse, and delivery across product teams—including current design-system ownership for the ford.com platform.

An exploration of how local AI, WebGPU, files, media, and offline capabilities are turning the browser into a serious application platform.
Explore the talkWhat I'm exploring now
- Building richer applications with browser-native capabilities
- Practical uses of local AI, WebGPU, files, media, and offline-first architecture
- Clear ways to teach complex frontend systems through working demonstrations
- Teaching frontend engineers how systems behave beyond the happy path
Let's compare notes.
If you're working on frontend architecture, product scale, developer experience, or a talk for your engineering community, I'd be glad to hear from you.
